
Counsel - Regulation, Supervision & Corporate Affairs
The Bank of New York Mellon is seeking an experienced Counsel - Regulation, Supervision & Corporate Affairs to join our Legal team. This is an exciting opportunity for an individual with a strong background in regulatory, supervisory and corporate affairs legal matters to provide strategic advice and guidance to the Bank. The ideal candidate will possess deep knowledge of the financial services industry, regulatory, supervisory and corporate affairs matters, and the ability to provide creative solutions to the Bank’s most complex legal challenges. The successful candidate will have a professional attitude, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work independently and collaboratively across multiple departments. Qualified candidates must have a Juris Doctor degree from an accredited law school with exceptional academic credentials and a minimum of 8 years of experience in the legal department of a financial institution. In addition, the ideal candidate must be admitted to practice in a US state or the District of Columbia and have prior experience in the areas of banking law, financial services regulation, consumer protection, corporate governance, and securities law.
Responsibilities:
- Provide strategic legal advice and guidance on regulatory, supervisory and corporate affairs matters to the Bank of New York Mellon.
- Develop creative solutions to complex legal challenges in the financial services industry.
- Research, analyze, and interpret relevant laws, regulations, and financial services industry standards to ensure compliance.
- Advise management on matters relating to banking law, financial services regulation, consumer protection, corporate governance, and securities law.
- Prepare legal documents, contracts, and other legal documents related to regulatory, supervisory and corporate affairs matters.
- Monitor legal and regulatory developments and provide timely updates to management.
- Maintain records and documentation related to legal matters.
- Develop and implement compliance policies and procedures.
- Liaise with internal and external stakeholders on legal and regulatory matters.
- Represent the Bank in legal proceedings.
