Job Description

At The Bank of New York Mellon, we’re looking for an experienced and dedicated Counsel- (Broker-Dealer) to join our team. If you're a passionate self-starter with a comprehensive understanding of financial industry laws, regulations, and policies, we’d love to have you on board.We’re looking for someone who has a Juris Doctor degree and a minimum of 5 years of experience in the financial services industry, with a focus on broker-dealer matters. You must have strong interpersonal and communication skills and be comfortable working in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment. Additionally, knowledge of Dodd-Frank and FINRA regulations is a must.If you have the required qualifications and have a passion for providing legal guidance and advice, this role is the perfect opportunity for you.

Responsibilities:

  1. Provide legal guidance and advice on broker-dealer matters to The Bank of New York Mellon.
  2. Work with the team to ensure compliance with financial industry laws, regulations, and policies.
  3. Draft legal documents and contracts to support broker-dealer activities.
  4. Monitor developments in Dodd-Frank and FINRA regulations and provide updates to the team.
  5. Research and analyze complex legal issues related to broker-dealer activities.
  6. Advise on risk management and regulatory compliance issues.
  7. Manage and resolve disputes between customers and the bank.
  8. Negotiate favorable outcomes in legal disputes.
  9. Maintain professional relationships with external stakeholders.
  10. Participate in training and development programs.
