As a Shipfitter, you will use your expertise and attention to detail to fabricate, assemble, and install various components of our ships. - Fabricate and assemble metal components of ships according to engineering drawings and specifications.
- Use various hand and power tools, as well as welding and cutting equipment, to shape and construct metal structures.
- Measure, mark, and cut materials accurately to ensure proper fit and alignment.
- Install and secure ship components, including plates, frames, and beams, using appropriate techniques and fasteners.
- Conduct quality control checks to ensure all work meets company and industry standards.
- Continuously monitor and maintain a safe and clean work environment.
- Collaborate with engineers, designers, and other team members to troubleshoot and resolve any issues that arise during the shipbuilding process.
- Adhere to project timelines and production schedules to ensure timely completion of ships.
- Follow all company policies, procedures, and protocols, including those related to safety and quality.
- Actively participate in training and development opportunities to enhance skills and knowledge.
- Maintain accurate records of work performed and materials used.
- Represent the company in a professional and positive manner at all times.

Experience With Shipbuilding Processes And Techniques: A Shipfitter At Textron Should Have A Strong Background In Shipbuilding Processes And Techniques, Such As Blueprint Reading, Layout And Fabrication, Welding, And Assembly. This Will Ensure They Can Perform Their Job Efficiently And Effectively.
Knowledge Of Shipyard Safety Protocols: Shipfitters Must Have A Thorough Understanding Of Safety Protocols In A Shipyard Environment. This Includes Knowledge Of Personal Protective Equipment (Ppe), Hazardous Material Handling, And Emergency Procedures.
Proficiency In Using Shipyard Tools And Equipment: A Shipfitter Should Have Experience Using A Variety Of Tools And Equipment Commonly Used In A Shipyard, Such As Grinders, Saws, Drills, And Welding Equipment. They Should Also Have The Ability To Troubleshoot And Maintain These Tools.
Ability To Read And Interpret Blueprints: As A Shipfitter, It Is Crucial To Be Able To Read And Interpret Blueprints Accurately. This Includes Understanding Different Symbols, Dimensions, And Tolerances. This Skill Is Essential For Ensuring The Accuracy And Quality Of The Final Product.
Strong Teamwork And Communication Skills: Shipfitters Work Closely With Other Members Of The Shipbuilding Team, Such As Welders, Pipefitters, And Electricians. Therefore, Strong Teamwork And Communication Skills Are Necessary To Effectively Collaborate And Complete Projects On Time And To The Desired Specifications.
