- Fabricate sheet metal parts according to engineering drawings and specifications.
- Operate various sheet metal machinery, such as shears, brakes, and punch presses, to cut, bend, and shape metal.
- Utilize hand tools, power tools, and measuring equipment to accurately complete tasks.
- Ensure all parts meet quality standards and make necessary adjustments as needed.
- Keep work area clean and organized to maintain a safe and efficient work environment.
- Collaborate with other team members to troubleshoot and resolve any issues that may arise during production.
- Communicate effectively with supervisors and other departments to ensure timely completion of projects.
- Follow all safety protocols and regulations to prevent accidents and injuries.
- Continuously seek ways to improve processes and increase efficiency.
- Stay up-to-date with industry trends and developments to enhance skills and knowledge.
- Train and mentor new sheet metal technicians as needed.
- Adhere to company policies and procedures at all times.
- Represent the company in a professional and positive manner.
- Attend meetings and participate in training sessions as required.
- Take ownership of assigned tasks and work towards meeting deadlines.
- Maintain accurate records of work performed and materials used.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
Experience In Sheet Metal Fabrication: A Sheet Metal Technician At Textron Should Have A Strong Background In Sheet Metal Fabrication Techniques, Such As Cutting, Bending, And Welding. This Could Include Previous Experience In A Similar Role Or A Relevant Trade School Program.
Knowledge Of Industry Standards And Regulations: The Ideal Candidate Should Be Familiar With Industry Standards And Regulations Related To Sheet Metal Work, Such As Astm And Asme Codes. This Knowledge Is Essential For Ensuring The Safety And Quality Of Products.
Ability To Read And Interpret Blueprints: Sheet Metal Technicians Must Be Able To Read And Interpret Technical Drawings And Blueprints To Accurately Fabricate Parts And Assemblies. This Requires Strong Spatial Awareness, Attention To Detail, And The Ability To Visualize 3D Objects From 2D Drawings.
Proficiency In Using Sheet Metal Tools And Equipment: Textron Sheet Metal Technicians Should Have Experience With A Variety Of Hand And Power Tools Used In Sheet Metal Fabrication, Including Presses, Shears, Rollers, And Brake Presses. They Should Also Be Comfortable Using Computer-Aided Design (Cad) Software For Creating And Modifying Designs.
Strong Problem-Solving Skills: Sheet Metal Technicians Often Encounter Challenges And Unexpected Issues During The Fabrication Process. The Ideal Candidate Should Have Strong Problem-Solving Abilities And Be Able To Think Critically To Find Solutions And Troubleshoot Issues As They Arise. This Requires A Combination Of Technical Knowledge And Creativity.
