GIS Technician

The ideal candidate will have strong technical skills and a commitment to making a positive contribution to the organization.The GIS Technician will be responsible for creating, developing, and maintaining geographic information systems (GIS) databases as well as analyzing and interpreting spatial data. The successful candidate will have a solid understanding of mapping software, such as ArcGIS, and excellent analytical skills.The ideal candidate should have a degree in geography, cartography, or a related field, as well as a minimum of two years of experience working with GIS software. Responsibilities of a GIS Technician:

-Develop and maintain GIS databases -Analyze and interpret spatial data -Operate and maintain mapping software, such as ArcGIS -Perform data entry and analysis of GIS data -Produce maps, graphs, and other graphic materials -Generate reports, tables, and other documents -Prepare presentations and other materials to explain GIS results -Provide technical support to GIS users -Research sources of data and develop methods for data acquisition -Keep current on new GIS technology and software -Conduct field surveys to collect data and verify existing data -Develop and maintain GIS training materials and programs
