Current Certification: A Unit Secretary/Nursing Assistant At Sutter Health Should Possess A Current Certification As A Nursing Assistant. This Certification Should Be From A Recognized Accrediting Body, Such As The National Association Of Health Care Assistants (Nahca) Or The National Council Of State Boards Of Nursing (Ncsbn).
Experience In Maternal Newborn Care: The Ideal Candidate Should Have Prior Experience Working In A Maternal Newborn Department Or Unit. This Can Include Experience As A Nursing Assistant, Unit Secretary, Or Other Support Role In A Maternity Ward.
Medical Terminology Knowledge: A Strong Understanding Of Medical Terminology Is Essential For A Unit Secretary/Nursing Assistant In A Maternal Newborn Unit. This Includes Terms Related To Pregnancy, Childbirth, And Postpartum Care.
Communication Skills: Excellent Communication Skills, Both Verbal And Written, Are A Must For This Role. The Unit Secretary/Nursing Assistant Will Be Responsible For Relaying Important Information Between Patients, Families, And The Healthcare Team, So Clear And Effective Communication Is Crucial.
