- Assist surgeons and medical staff during surgical procedures to ensure smooth and efficient operations.
- Prepare and maintain surgical equipment and supplies, ensuring they are sterile and in working condition.
- Anticipate the needs of the surgical team and provide them with necessary instruments and supplies.
- Monitor patient vital signs and ensure their safety and comfort throughout the procedure.
- Help position and prepare patients for surgery, following proper positioning techniques.
- Communicate effectively with the surgical team and provide necessary updates during the procedure.
- Adhere to all safety protocols and infection control measures to maintain a clean and safe surgical environment.
- Participate in the pre-operative and post-operative care of patients, including dressing changes and wound care.
- Document accurately and promptly in patient records, including surgical procedures and patient vitals.
- Continuously update knowledge and skills through training and education to stay current with industry advancements and best practices.
- Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to ensure the best possible patient outcomes.
- Maintain a professional and compassionate demeanor when interacting with patients and their families.
- Proactively identify potential issues and troubleshoot equipment malfunctions during surgeries.
- Follow all hospital policies and procedures, including HIPAA regulations and patient confidentiality.

Completion Of An Accredited Surgical Technician Program: Candidates Should Have Completed A Formal Education Program From An Accredited Institution To Ensure They Have The Necessary Knowledge And Skills For The Role.
Certification As A Surgical Technician: Sutter Health May Require Candidates To Have A Valid Certification As A Surgical Technician From A Recognized Organization, Such As The National Board Of Surgical Technology And Surgical Assisting (Nbstsa).
Previous Experience In A Surgical Setting: Candidates Should Have A Minimum Of 1-2 Years Of Experience Working As A Surgery Technician In A Hospital Or Clinical Setting. This Experience Helps Ensure They Are Familiar With Surgical Procedures, Equipment, And Safety Protocols.
Knowledge Of Surgical Procedures And Equipment: Candidates Should Have A Strong Understanding Of Surgical Procedures And The Equipment Used In The Operating Room. This Includes Knowledge Of Sterilization Techniques, Surgical Instruments, And Operating Room Setup.
