Job Description

  1. Prepare and maintain the sterile environment in the operating room for surgery, including setting up surgical instruments and equipment.
  2. Assist in positioning and prepping patients for surgery, ensuring their safety and comfort at all times.
  3. Anticipate the needs of the surgeon during procedures and provide necessary instruments, supplies, and equipment.
  4. Perform surgical instrument counts before and after procedures to ensure accuracy and patient safety.
  5. Monitor and document vital signs and other patient information during surgery, reporting any changes or concerns to the surgical team.
  6. Collaborate and communicate effectively with the surgical team, including surgeons, nurses, anesthesiologists, and other healthcare professionals.
  7. Maintain a clean and organized surgical environment, adhering to infection control and safety protocols at all times.
  8. Assist with patient transport to and from the operating room, as well as transfer to the post-anesthesia care unit (PACU) after surgery.
  9. Troubleshoot any equipment malfunctions and report issues to the appropriate personnel.
  10. Participate in ongoing education and training to stay updated on new surgical techniques, equipment, and procedures.
  11. Adhere to all hospital policies and procedures, including HIPAA regulations and patient confidentiality.
  12. Take initiative in identifying and addressing any potential safety hazards in the operating room.
  13. Act as a resource and mentor for new surgical technologists and students, providing guidance and support as needed.
  14. Maintain accurate and complete documentation of procedures, supplies used, and patient information.
  15. Continuously strive to provide exceptional patient care and ensure the success of each surgery.

Job Qualifications
  • Completion Of An Accredited Surgical Technology Program And Certification As A Certified Surgical Technologist (Cst).

  • Minimum Of 2 Years Of Experience As A Surgery Tech I Or Equivalent Experience In A Hospital Or Surgical Setting.

  • Familiarity With A Variety Of Surgical Procedures And Ability To Anticipate The Needs Of The Surgeon During Surgery.

  • Knowledge Of Sterile Technique And Infection Control Practices To Maintain A Safe And Clean Surgical Environment.

  • Excellent Communication And Teamwork Skills To Effectively Collaborate With The Surgical Team And Other Healthcare Professionals.
