- Perform daily decontamination, cleaning, and sterilization of all surgical instruments and medical equipment according to established protocols and guidelines.
- Ensure all instruments and equipment are functioning properly and in good condition before use.
- Monitor and maintain inventory levels of sterile supplies and equipment, and place orders as needed.
- Maintain accurate records of sterilization processes and equipment maintenance.
- Collaborate with other members of the healthcare team to identify and resolve any issues with equipment or supplies.
- Adhere to all infection control policies and procedures to prevent the spread of infectious diseases.
- Train and educate new staff members on proper handling and sterilization techniques.
- Participate in quality control and performance improvement initiatives to ensure compliance with regulatory standards.
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment in the sterile processing department.
- Stay updated on current industry standards and best practices in sterile processing.
- Communicate effectively with team members, physicians, and other healthcare professionals to ensure efficient and safe operation of the department.
- Adhere to all safety protocols and guidelines to prevent accidents or injuries in the workplace.
- Participate in on-call rotations and respond to emergency requests for sterile supplies and equipment.
- Maintain confidentiality of patient information and adhere to all HIPAA regulations.
- Perform other related duties and responsibilities as assigned by the supervisor.
Certified Sterile Processing Technician: The Ideal Candidate Should Have A Valid Certification From A Recognized Institution, Such As The Certification Board For Sterile Processing And Distribution (Cbspd) Or The International Association Of Healthcare Central Service Material Management (Iahcsmm).
Knowledge Of Sterilization Techniques: The Candidate Should Have A Thorough Understanding Of Various Sterilization Methods, Including Steam, Ethylene Oxide, And Low-Temperature Sterilization.
Familiarity With Industry Standards: The Candidate Should Be Well-Versed In Industry Standards And Guidelines, Such As Those Set By The Association For The Advancement Of Medical Instrumentation (Aami) And The Occupational Safety And Health Administration (Osha).
Attention To Detail: The Sterile Processing Technologist Should Have A Keen Eye For Detail And Be Able To Follow Strict Protocols To Ensure The Safety And Effectiveness Of Sterile Instruments And Equipment.
