- Perform proper decontamination, cleaning, and sterilization of medical equipment and instruments according to established protocols and standards.
- Inspect, assemble, and package instruments and equipment for use in patient care procedures.
- Maintain accurate and detailed records of all processed items, including tracking expiration dates and maintenance schedules.
- Ensure all equipment and instruments are functioning properly and report any malfunctions or discrepancies to the appropriate personnel.
- Adhere to infection control and safety protocols to prevent the spread of infectious diseases.
- Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to ensure timely availability of sterile equipment for patient care.
- Stay up-to-date on industry standards and best practices for sterile processing and implement changes as needed.
- Assist with inventory management and ordering of necessary supplies.
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to equipment and instrument processing.
- Train and mentor new Sterile Processing Technicians as needed.
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment to comply with regulatory standards.
- Communicate effectively with team members and other departments to ensure efficient workflow.

Certified Sterile Processing Technician: The Ideal Candidate Should Possess A Valid Certification As A Sterile Processing Technician From An Accredited Organization Such As The Certification Board For Sterile Processing And Distribution (Cbspd) Or The International Association Of Healthcare Central Service Materiel Management (Iahcsmm).
Previous Experience: A Minimum Of 2-3 Years Of Experience Working As A Sterile Processing Technician In A Hospital Or Healthcare Setting Is Required For This Position. This Experience Should Include Knowledge Of Sterilization Techniques, Equipment Maintenance, And Surgical Instrument Cleaning.
Knowledge Of Sterilization Techniques And Protocols: A Thorough Understanding Of Different Sterilization Methods, Such As Steam, Ethylene Oxide, And Hydrogen Peroxide Plasma, Is Essential For This Role. The Candidate Should Also Be Familiar With Industry Standards And Protocols For Handling And Processing Surgical Instruments And Equipment.
Attention To Detail: As A Sterile Processing Technician Ii, Attention To Detail Is Crucial In Ensuring That All Surgical Instruments And Equipment Are Properly Sterilized And Maintained. The Candidate Should Have Excellent Organizational Skills And The Ability To Work Efficiently And Accurately In A Fast-Paced Environment.
