Job Description

  1. Provide expert lactation guidance and support to new mothers and their babies.
  2. Utilize strong nursing skills to promote and support successful breastfeeding.
  3. Conduct thorough assessments of breastfeeding mothers and babies, identifying any potential issues or concerns.
  4. Offer evidence-based solutions and recommendations to address breastfeeding challenges.
  5. Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to develop individualized care plans for breastfeeding families.
  6. Educate and empower mothers on breastfeeding techniques, positioning, and proper latch.
  7. Monitor and evaluate the progress of breastfeeding mothers and babies, adjusting care plans as needed.
  8. Maintain accurate and detailed patient records, including breastfeeding assessments and interventions.
  9. Stay up-to-date on current research and best practices in lactation support.
  10. Advocate for breastfeeding as the optimal feeding method for infants.
  11. Provide emotional support and counseling to breastfeeding mothers and their families.
  12. Serve as a resource for healthcare staff on lactation-related matters.
  13. Participate in breastfeeding education and training for staff and community members.
  14. Comply with all hospital policies, procedures, and regulatory standards.
  15. Uphold patient confidentiality and demonstrate sensitivity to cultural, religious, and personal beliefs.
  16. Continuously promote a culture of excellence in patient care and customer service.
  17. Attend meetings, conferences, and workshops to stay informed and enhance professional development.
  18. Maintain a positive and professional attitude, even in challenging situations.
  19. Collaborate with community organizations and resources to provide ongoing support to breastfeeding families.
  20. Adhere to all safety protocols and infection control measures to ensure a safe environment for patients and staff.

Job Qualifications
  • Current Registered Nurse (Rn) License In The State Of California.

  • Certification As An International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (Ibclc).

  • Minimum Of 2 Years Of Experience As A Lactation Consultant, Preferably In A Hospital Setting.

  • Knowledge And Understanding Of Current Breastfeeding Research, Techniques, And Guidelines.

  • Excellent Communication And Patient Education Skills, With The Ability To Provide Compassionate And Culturally Sensitive Care To Breastfeeding Mothers And Their Infants.
