  1. Prepare intravenous medications accurately and efficiently according to established protocols and procedures.
  2. Conduct proper pharmaceutical calculations to ensure correct dosages and concentrations.
  3. Maintain a clean and organized work environment in the IV pharmacy area.
  4. Monitor inventory levels and assist with ordering and restocking medication supplies.
  5. Collaborate with pharmacists and other healthcare professionals to ensure safe and effective medication therapy for patients.
  6. Accurately label and package medications for delivery to patient care areas.
  7. Follow all safety protocols and best practices to prevent medication errors and ensure patient safety.
  8. Communicate effectively with patients, caregivers, and healthcare team members to provide exceptional customer service.
  9. Keep accurate records of medication preparation and dispensing, including lot numbers and expiration dates.
  10. Assist with training and mentoring new IV Pharmacy Technicians.
  11. Stay updated on new medications and changes in pharmacy regulations and policies.
  12. Handle and dispose of hazardous materials and waste in accordance with established guidelines.
  13. Adhere to HIPAA regulations and maintain patient confidentiality at all times.
  14. Adhere to Sutter Health's code of conduct and ethical standards.
  15. Demonstrate compassion and empathy towards patients and their families.
  16. Work efficiently under pressure and prioritize tasks to meet deadlines.
  17. Participate in quality improvement initiatives and contribute to a culture of continuous improvement.
  18. Attend department meetings and training sessions as required.
  19. Perform other duties as assigned by the pharmacy manager or supervisor.

Job Qualifications
  • Certified Pharmacy Technician (Cpht) - This Qualification Ensures That The Individual Has Completed A Formal Education Program And Passed A National Certification Exam, Demonstrating Their Knowledge And Skills In Pharmacy Operations And Regulations.

  • Experience In Iv Compounding - Sutter Health Requires Iv Pharmacy Technicians To Have A Minimum Of 1-2 Years Of Experience In Sterile Compounding. This Ensures That They Are Familiar With The Equipment, Procedures, And Safety Protocols Required For Iv Medication Preparation.

  • Knowledge Of Usp <797> And <800> Guidelines - These Are The Industry Standards For Sterile Compounding And Handling Hazardous Drugs. Iv Pharmacy Technicians At Sutter Health Must Have A Thorough Understanding Of These Guidelines To Maintain Patient Safety And Regulatory Compliance.

  • Strong Attention To Detail - Iv Medications Require Precise Measurements And Calculations, And Even Small Errors Can Have Serious Consequences For Patients. Sutter Health Looks For Candidates With A Keen Eye For Detail To Ensure Accuracy In Iv Compounding.
