- Assist healthcare professionals in the emergency room in providing high-quality and compassionate care to patients.
- Collaborate with the healthcare team to ensure efficient and effective patient care.
- Prepare and maintain the emergency room for patient arrivals, including restocking supplies and equipment.
- Monitor and document vital signs and other patient information accurately and timely.
- Assist with patient transfers and transportation within the emergency room.
- Administer basic first aid and perform emergency procedures under the direction of healthcare professionals.
- Assist with patient triage and prioritization based on acuity level.
- Communicate effectively with patients and their families, providing emotional support and reassurance.
- Maintain a clean and safe environment in the emergency room.
- Adhere to all safety protocols and infection control procedures.
- Participate in ongoing training and education to maintain and improve skills and knowledge.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the emergency room supervisor or healthcare professionals.
High School Diploma Or Equivalent: A Basic Level Of Education Is Essential For An Emergency Room Technician (Ert) To Understand And Carry Out Medical Protocols And Procedures Effectively.
Certified Emt Or Licensed Practical Nurse: Sutter Health Requires Ert Candidates To Have Completed An Accredited Emt Program Or Hold A Valid Lpn License. This Ensures That The Candidate Has The Necessary Knowledge And Skills To Provide Immediate Emergency Care.
Basic Life Support (Bls) And Advanced Cardiac Life Support (Acls) Certifications: Erts Are Expected To Respond Quickly And Efficiently In A Medical Emergency. Having Up-To-Date Bls And Acls Certifications Demonstrates The Candidate's Ability To Handle Critical Situations And Provide Life-Saving Interventions.
Strong Communication And Interpersonal Skills: Erts Must Be Able To Communicate Effectively With Patients, Their Families, And Other Healthcare Professionals. They Should Also Possess Strong Interpersonal Skills To Handle High-Stress Situations And Work Well In A Team.
Physical Endurance And Ability To Work In A Fast-Paced Environment: Emergency Rooms Can Be Chaotic And High-Pressure Environments, And Erts Must Be Able To Handle Physical Demands Such As Lifting And Transferring Patients, Standing For Long Periods, And Performing Tasks Quickly And Efficiently. Candidates Should Also Be Able To Multitask And Prioritize Effectively.
