Job Description

  1. Provide timely and compassionate care to patients in the emergency department.
  2. Assist in the triage of patients and prioritize care based on severity of condition.
  3. Monitor and record vital signs, intake and output, and other important patient information.
  4. Administer medications and treatments as directed by the healthcare team.
  5. Assist with procedures and treatments, such as wound care and splinting.
  6. Keep patients and their families informed of their care and provide education on post-treatment instructions.
  7. Collaborate with the healthcare team to ensure efficient patient flow and timely delivery of care.
  8. Maintain a safe and clean environment for patients and staff.
  9. Monitor and restock supplies and equipment to ensure their availability for patient care.
  10. Document patient care accurately and in a timely manner.
  11. Adhere to all hospital policies and procedures, as well as regulatory guidelines.
  12. Continuously participate in training and professional development opportunities to stay updated on emergency medicine practices.
  13. Communicate effectively and professionally with patients, families, and other healthcare team members.
  14. Maintain patient confidentiality and adhere to all HIPAA regulations.
  15. Remain calm and composed in high-stress situations and assist in de-escalating conflicts if necessary.
  16. Demonstrate a commitment to providing exceptional patient experience.
  17. Take initiative to identify and report any potential safety hazards or concerns.
  18. Display a positive attitude and willingness to work collaboratively with others in a fast-paced environment.
  19. Perform other duties as assigned by the healthcare team.

Job Qualifications
  • High School Diploma Or Equivalent: A Minimum Education Requirement For An Emergency Department Technician At Sutter Health Is A High School Diploma Or Equivalent. This Ensures Basic Knowledge And Understanding Of Healthcare Practices And Procedures.

  • Certified Nursing Assistant (Cna) Certification: Sutter Health May Require Candidates To Hold A Valid Cna Certification To Work As An Emergency Department Technician. This Certification Demonstrates Knowledge And Skills In Patient Care And Basic Medical Procedures.

  • Basic Life Support (Bls) Certification: Sutter Health May Require Candidates To Hold A Current Bls Certification From The American Heart Association. This Certification Ensures Knowledge And Skills In Cpr And Other Life-Saving Techniques.

  • Previous Experience In A Healthcare Setting: Sutter Health May Prefer Candidates With Previous Experience Working In A Healthcare Setting, Preferably In An Emergency Department. This Experience Demonstrates A Familiarity With Emergency Procedures And A Comfort Level In A Fast-Paced Environment.

  • Strong Communication And Interpersonal Skills: As An Emergency Department Technician, Strong Communication And Interpersonal Skills Are Essential To Effectively Communicate With Patients, Their Families, And Other Healthcare Professionals.
