- Assist healthcare professionals in providing timely and efficient care to patients in the Emergency Department.
- Perform basic medical procedures such as taking vital signs, collecting samples, and administering medications as directed by healthcare professionals.
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment in the Emergency Department.
- Monitor and report changes in patients' conditions to healthcare professionals.
- Prepare and restock medical supplies and equipment as needed.
- Provide comfort and support to patients and their families during their stay in the Emergency Department.
- Adhere to all safety and infection control protocols.
- Document all patient interactions, procedures, and observations accurately and in a timely manner.
- Collaborate with other healthcare team members to ensure the smooth flow of patient care.
- Attend trainings and maintain knowledge of emergency protocols and procedures.
- Demonstrate compassion and empathy towards patients in distress.
- Maintain patient confidentiality at all times.
- Act as a liaison between patients, families, and healthcare professionals.
- Communicate effectively and professionally with all individuals involved in patient care.
- Assist with any other duties as assigned by the Emergency Department team.
High School Diploma Or Equivalent: The Minimum Educational Requirement For An Emergency Department Technician At Sutter Health Is A High School Diploma Or Equivalent. This Ensures That Candidates Have A Basic Level Of Education And Knowledge To Perform The Job Responsibilities.
Certification: Sutter Health Requires Emergency Department Technicians To Have A Valid Certification From An Accredited Institution. This Certification Demonstrates That The Candidate Has Received Proper Training And Possesses The Necessary Skills To Work In A Fast-Paced Emergency Department Setting.
Previous Healthcare Experience: Prior Experience In A Healthcare Setting, Particularly In An Emergency Department, Is Highly Preferred For This Position. This Ensures That Candidates Are Familiar With The Fast-Paced Environment And Have A Basic Understanding Of Medical Terminology And Procedures.
Strong Communication Skills: Emergency Department Technicians Need To Communicate Effectively With Patients, Families, And Other Healthcare Professionals. They Must Also Be Able To Document Patient Information Accurately. Therefore, Strong Communication Skills, Both Verbal And Written, Are Essential For This Role.
Ability To Handle Physical Demands: This Job Requires Candidates To Be Physically Fit And Able To Handle The Demands Of A Busy Emergency Department. This May Include Standing For Long Periods, Lifting And Moving Patients, And Performing Various Tasks While On Their Feet. Candidates Should Be In Good Physical Condition To Meet These Demands.
