In this role, you will work closely with patients in crisis and provide assessments, interventions, and referrals to appropriate services.   1. Conduct initial assessments of patients in crisis to determine their mental health needs and level of care required.
  2. Provide crisis intervention services to patients in the emergency room setting.
  3. Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to coordinate appropriate treatment plans for patients.
  4. Utilize evidence-based practices and assessment tools to accurately diagnose and assess patients' mental health needs.
  5. Develop and maintain a strong understanding of community mental health resources and make appropriate referrals for patients.
  6. Communicate effectively with patients and their families, providing support and education on mental health treatment options.
  7. Maintain accurate and timely documentation of patient assessments, interventions, and referrals.
  8. Adhere to ethical and legal standards in all aspects of patient care.
  9. Participate in ongoing training and professional development to stay current with best practices in the field of mental health.
  10. Collaborate with the intake team to ensure timely and efficient patient flow through the emergency room.
  11. Advocate for patients and their mental health needs within the healthcare system.
  12. Maintain a compassionate and non-judgmental approach in all interactions with patients.
  13. Ensure patient confidentiality is maintained at all times.
  14. Contribute to a positive and collaborative work environment within the healthcare team.
  15. Attend team meetings and provide input on improving intake and emergency room processes.

Job Qualifications
  • Doctoral Degree In Clinical Psychology: A Clinical Psychologist At Sutter Health Is Required To Have A Doctoral Degree In Clinical Psychology From An Accredited University. This Degree Provides The Necessary Theoretical Knowledge And Practical Training To Work In A Clinical Setting.

  • State License: A Valid State License To Practice As A Clinical Psychologist Is A Crucial Qualification For This Role. This Ensures That The Psychologist Has Met The Necessary Requirements And Is Qualified To Provide Mental Health Services To Patients.

  • Specialization In Intake And Emergency Room: Sutter Health Is Looking For A Clinical Psychologist Who Has Specialized Training And Experience In Working With Patients In An Intake And Emergency Room Setting. This Includes Assessing And Triaging Patients In Crisis, Providing Crisis Intervention, And Coordinating With Other Healthcare Professionals.

  • Experience In A Healthcare Setting: Experience Working In A Healthcare Setting, Particularly In A Hospital Or Emergency Room, Is Highly Desirable For This Role. This Demonstrates The Ability To Work In A Fast-Paced And High-Pressure Environment, As Well As Familiarity With Medical Terminology And Procedures.

  • Strong Interpersonal And Communication Skills: A Clinical Psychologist At Sutter Health Must Possess Excellent Interpersonal And Communication Skills To Effectively Engage With Patients, Their Families, And Other Healthcare Professionals. This Includes The Ability To Build Rapport, Listen Actively, And Convey Information Clearly And Compassionately.
