Sutter Health is seeking a skilled and compassionate Child Life Specialist, ACLP Completed Child Life Internship, to join our team.   1. Provide emotional support to children and their families during hospitalization and medical procedures.
  2. Utilize knowledge of child development to assess and address the needs of pediatric patients in a healthcare setting.
  3. Offer education to children and families regarding medical procedures, diagnoses, and treatments in a developmentally appropriate manner.
  4. Plan and facilitate therapeutic activities for children to promote coping and enhance their hospital experience.
  5. Collaborate with healthcare team members to ensure a comprehensive and coordinated approach to patient care.
  6. Maintain accurate and timely documentation of patient interactions and progress.
  7. Participate in multidisciplinary meetings to discuss patient care plans and provide input from a Child Life perspective.
  8. Stay up-to-date on current research and best practices in Child Life and advocate for the needs of pediatric patients and families.
  9. Serve as a resource and provide support to hospital staff in understanding and addressing the needs of pediatric patients.
  10. Demonstrate a strong commitment to the profession of Child Life and maintain certification through the Association of Child Life Professionals.
  11. Foster a positive and inclusive team dynamic by actively participating in team meetings and offering support to colleagues.
  12. Adhere to hospital policies and procedures and maintain a safe and therapeutic environment for patients and families.
  13. Continuously evaluate and improve Child Life programs and services to meet the changing needs of patients and families.
  14. Communicate effectively with patients, families, and colleagues, utilizing appropriate and developmentally sensitive language.
  15. Maintain confidentiality and demonstrate sensitivity to cultural and ethical considerations in all interactions.

Job Qualifications
  • Completion Of An Association Of Child Life Professionals (Aclp) Accredited Child Life Internship Program.

  • Certification As A Certified Child Life Specialist (Ccls) Through The Aclp.

  • Bachelor's Or Master's Degree In Child Life, Child Development, Or A Related Field.

  • Minimum Of 1-2 Years Of Experience Working As A Child Life Specialist In A Healthcare Setting.

  • Strong Knowledge And Understanding Of Child Development, Family Dynamics, And The Impact Of Illness And Hospitalization On Children And Families.
