- Perform phlebotomy procedures on patients of all ages, including infants, children, adults, and geriatric patients.
- Ensure accurate identification of patients and specimens, following established protocols.
- Adhere to safety and infection control policies and procedures when collecting and handling specimens.
- Conduct proper patient education and obtain informed consent before performing any procedures.
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment, including proper storage and handling of laboratory supplies and equipment.
- Process and prepare specimens for testing, ensuring proper labeling, documentation, and transportation.
- Perform quality control checks on equipment and troubleshoot any issues that may arise.
- Collaborate with other members of the laboratory team to ensure efficient and accurate workflow.
- Keep up-to-date with current techniques, procedures, and regulations related to phlebotomy and laboratory work.
- Provide exceptional customer service to patients and healthcare providers, responding to inquiries and concerns in a timely and professional manner.
- Participate in continuing education and training programs to maintain certification and improve skills.
- Comply with all privacy and confidentiality regulations and maintain the security of patient information.
- Assist with inventory management, ordering supplies, and maintaining proper stock levels.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the laboratory supervisor or manager.
Certification: A Certified Phlebotomy Technician (Cpt) Certification From A Recognized Organization Such As The American Society For Clinical Pathology (Ascp) Or The National Healthcareer Association (Nha) Is Required For This Role.
Experience: A Minimum Of 2 Years Of Experience As A Phlebotomy Technician In A Clinical Laboratory Setting Is Preferred. Candidates With Experience In A Sutter Health Lab Facility Will Be Given Preference.
Knowledge Of Laboratory Procedures: The Ideal Candidate Should Have A Thorough Understanding Of Laboratory Procedures, Including Specimen Collection, Processing, And Handling. They Should Also Have Experience In Using Computerized Laboratory Equipment And Systems.
Attention To Detail: A Certified Phlebotomy Technician Laboratory Assistant Ii Should Have Exceptional Attention To Detail To Ensure Accurate And Precise Collection And Labeling Of Specimens. They Should Also Have The Ability To Follow Standard Operating Procedures And Maintain Accurate Records.
Interpersonal Skills: This Role Requires Working Closely With Patients, Laboratory Staff, And Healthcare Professionals. Excellent Communication And Interpersonal Skills Are Essential For Establishing Rapport With Patients And Working Effectively In A Team Environment.
