Job Description

The Greater Silicon Valley and San Francisco Division at Sutter Health is seeking a dedicated and experienced CDI Physician Advisor to join our team.   1. Provide leadership and expertise in clinical documentation improvement (CDI) initiatives within the Greater Silicon Valley and San Francisco Division at Sutter Health.
  2. Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to develop and implement CDI strategies and processes that will improve the accuracy and completeness of clinical documentation.
  3. Serve as a resource and educator for physicians and other healthcare providers on best practices for clinical documentation.
  4. Conduct regular audits and reviews of clinical documentation to identify areas for improvement and provide feedback and education to providers.
  5. Analyze data and trends to identify opportunities for CDI interventions and measure the impact of these interventions.
  6. Develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including physicians, clinical staff, and coding and billing teams, to support effective CDI practices.
  7. Stay current on industry trends and changes related to CDI and provide recommendations for improvement and compliance with regulations.
  8. Participate in the development and implementation of electronic health record (EHR) systems and other technology to support CDI efforts.
  9. Collaborate with other CDI Physician Advisors across Sutter Health to share best practices and promote consistency in CDI processes.
  10. Serve as a role model for ethical and compliant behavior in all aspects of CDI.
  11. Participate in the hiring, training, and mentoring of CDI staff.
  12. Maintain knowledge of coding and documentation guidelines and regulations and ensure compliance with them.
  13. Actively participate in departmental and organizational meetings and committees to provide input and support for CDI initiatives.
  14. Maintain confidentiality of patient information and adhere to all HIPAA regulations.
  15. Continuously strive to improve the quality of care provided to patients through accurate and complete clinical documentation.

Job Qualifications
  • Medical Degree: A Cdi Physician Advisor At Sutter Health Must Possess A Medical Degree From An Accredited Institution. This Is Essential For Understanding And Interpreting Medical Records And Providing Clinical Expertise To Support Accurate Documentation.

  • Board Certification: Candidates Should Be Board-Certified In A Relevant Medical Specialty Such As Internal Medicine, Family Medicine, Or Hospital Medicine. This Demonstrates A High Level Of Clinical Knowledge And Expertise.

  • Clinical Documentation Experience: The Ideal Candidate Should Have A Minimum Of 3-5 Years Of Experience In Clinical Documentation, Preferably In A Hospital Or Healthcare Setting. This Experience Should Include Working With Coding And Billing Processes, As Well As Knowledge Of Regulatory Guidelines.

  • Strong Communication Skills: As A Cdi Physician Advisor, Effective Communication Is Crucial For Collaborating With Other Physicians, Coders, And Healthcare Professionals. Candidates Should Demonstrate Excellent Verbal And Written Communication Skills To Effectively Convey Complex Medical Information.

  • Analytical And Critical Thinking Skills: A Successful Cdi Physician Advisor Must Possess Strong Analytical And Critical Thinking Skills To Analyze Medical Records And Identify Areas For Improvement In Documentation. Candidates Should Be Detail-Oriented And Able To Identify Patterns And Trends In Data.
