- Maintain accurate and comprehensive cancer data for the organization, including patient demographics, diagnosis, treatment, and outcomes
- Abstract and code relevant data from medical records, pathology reports, and other sources according to established guidelines and standards
- Participate in quality control processes to ensure data accuracy and completeness
- Collaborate with healthcare providers and other team members to obtain necessary information and resolve discrepancies
- Stay up-to-date on the latest cancer registry practices and regulations to ensure compliance with national and state reporting requirements
- Contribute to the advancement of cancer research and treatment by providing data for research studies and clinical trials
- Participate in tumor board meetings and other multidisciplinary conferences to present and discuss cancer data
- Maintain confidentiality and adhere to HIPAA regulations when handling sensitive patient information
- Utilize cancer registry software and other electronic tools to input, manage, and report data
- Train and mentor new cancer registry staff members as needed
- Attend continuing education programs and workshops to maintain CTR certification and expand knowledge and skills in the field.
Certified Tumor Registrar (Ctr) Designation From The National Cancer Registrars Association (Ncra).
Minimum Of 3-5 Years Experience As A Cancer Registrar, Preferably In A Hospital Or Healthcare Setting.
Familiarity With Tumor Registry Databases And Electronic Health Records, Such As Epic And Metriq.
In-Depth Understanding Of Cancer Terminology, Anatomy, And Staging.
Strong Analytical And Critical Thinking Skills, With The Ability To Accurately Abstract And Code Complex Cancer Data.
