  6. Stay up-to-date on industry trends, regulations, and best practices in water treatment in order to continuously improve processes and operations.
  7. Collaborate with other team members and departments to ensure effective communication and coordination in the delivery of water services.
  8. Train and mentor new operators and staff to ensure a knowledgeable and skilled team.
  9. Adhere to all safety protocols and procedures to protect the health and well-being of employees and the community.
  10. Demonstrate a strong commitment to public service and the well-being of the community by providing high-quality water services.
  11. Maintain a strong work ethic and consistently meet performance expectations to ensure the efficient and effective operation of the treatment plant.
  12. Communicate and coordinate with local and state regulatory agencies to ensure compliance with all regulations and permits.
  13. Participate in ongoing professional development opportunities to enhance knowledge and skills in water treatment operations.
  14. Actively contribute to the overall goals and objectives of the organization by participating in team meetings and sharing ideas for improvement.

Job Qualifications
  • High School Diploma Or Equivalent Education: A Water Treatment Plant Operator Must Have A Minimum Of A High School Diploma Or Ged In Order To Be Considered For The Job. Some Employers May Prefer Candidates With Higher Education Such As An Associate's Or Bachelor's Degree In A Related Field.

  • Water Treatment Certification: In Order To Operate A Water Treatment Plant In Pennsylvania, Candidates Must Possess A Valid Water Treatment Operator Certification From The Pennsylvania Department Of Environmental Protection (Dep). This Certification Ensures That The Candidate Has The Necessary Knowledge And Skills To Safely And Efficiently Operate A Water Treatment Plant.

  • Knowledge Of Water Treatment Processes: Candidates Should Have A Thorough Understanding Of The Various Processes Involved In Treating And Purifying Water, Such As Coagulation, Sedimentation, Filtration, Disinfection, And Distribution. They Should Also Be Familiar With The Equipment Used In These Processes And Be Able To Troubleshoot Any Issues That May Arise.

  • Physical Ability: Working In A Water Treatment Plant Requires Physical Stamina And The Ability To Lift Heavy Objects, Climb Ladders, And Work In Confined Spaces. Candidates Should Be In Good Physical Health And Able To Perform These Tasks Safely.

  • Attention To Detail: Water Treatment Plant Operators Must Be Detail-Oriented And Able To Closely Monitor And Record Various Data And Readings Throughout Their Shift.
