  1. Conduct thorough background checks on individuals attempting to purchase firearms in the state of Pennsylvania.
  2. Ensure compliance with all federal and state laws and regulations related to firearm ownership and purchasing.
  3. Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of all background check results.
  4. Communicate with law enforcement agencies and other relevant parties to gather information and verify eligibility for firearm ownership.
  5. Identify and flag any potential red flags or discrepancies in background check results.
  6. Collaborate with other team members and departments to continuously improve and streamline the background check process.
  7. Stay up-to-date on changes to firearm laws and regulations at both the federal and state level.
  8. Provide excellent customer service to individuals inquiring about their background check status.
  9. Maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion.
  10. Assist with training and mentoring new employees in the firearms background check process.

Job Qualifications
  • Knowledge Of State And Federal Firearms Laws And Regulations: A Firearms Background Specialist At State Of Pennsylvania Should Have A Thorough Understanding Of All Laws And Regulations Related To Firearms, Including Background Check Procedures And Requirements.

  • Experience In Conducting Background Checks: This Position Requires Experience In Conducting Background Checks, Including Criminal History, Mental Health, And Domestic Violence Checks. Knowledge Of Databases Such As Nics And Pics Is Also Essential.

  • Attention To Detail: A Firearms Background Specialist Must Have A High Level Of Attention To Detail To Ensure Accurate And Thorough Background Checks Are Conducted. This Includes Reviewing And Verifying Information, Identifying Potential Red Flags, And Properly Documenting All Findings.

  • Communication And Interpersonal Skills: As A Liaison Between Law Enforcement Agencies And The Public, A Firearms Background Specialist Must Have Strong Communication And Interpersonal Skills. This Includes The Ability To Effectively Communicate Complex Information And Maintain Professionalism And Confidentiality With All Parties Involved.

  • Analytical And Problem-Solving Skills: This Position Requires The Ability To Analyze And Interpret Information From Various Sources And Make Informed Decisions Based On That Information. A Firearms Background Specialist Should Also Be Able To Identify And Resolve Any Issues Or Discrepancies That May Arise During The Background Check Process.
