
Youth Support Specialist

- Provide direct support to young individuals in various settings, such as schools, community centers, and juvenile detention facilities.
- Develop and implement individualized support plans for youth, based on their specific needs and goals.
- Build positive and trusting relationships with youth, acting as a mentor and role model.
- Assist youth in accessing resources and services, such as education, mental health support, and employment opportunities.
- Collaborate with other professionals, including social workers, therapists, and teachers, to ensure a comprehensive approach to supporting youth.
- Conduct assessments and evaluations to identify the strengths and needs of youth, and use this information to inform support plans.
- Provide crisis intervention and de-escalation techniques when necessary.
- Advocate for youth and their families, ensuring their voices are heard and their needs are met.
- Document all interactions and progress made with youth, maintaining accurate and confidential records.
- Stay up-to-date on best practices and research in youth development, and incorporate this knowledge into support strategies.
- Participate in team meetings and training sessions to enhance skills and knowledge.
- Adhere to all policies and procedures of the State of New York and maintain a professional and ethical demeanor at all times.
- Collaborate with community organizations and resources to expand support options for youth.
- Communicate effectively with parents/guardians and other stakeholders involved in the youth's care.
- Continuously evaluate and assess the effectiveness of support plans and make necessary adjustments to ensure the best outcomes for youth.
Bachelor's Degree In Social Work, Psychology, Or A Related Field.
Minimum Of 2 Years Experience Working With At-Risk Youth In A Professional Setting.
Knowledge Of Child Development, Trauma-Informed Care, And Crisis Intervention Techniques.
Experience Facilitating Group Therapy Sessions And Developing Individualized Treatment Plans.
Ability To Collaborate With Other Agencies And Community Resources To Provide Comprehensive Support For Youth In Need.
