
Water Safety Coordinator - Palisades Region

- Develop and implement water safety policies and procedures for the Palisades Region in accordance with state and federal regulations
- Conduct regular inspections and audits of water safety practices at public and private bodies of water within the region
- Collaborate with local and state agencies, organizations, and community groups to promote and educate the public on water safety measures
- Serve as a resource and provide guidance to local businesses and organizations on water safety regulations and best practices
- Lead and coordinate water safety training programs for lifeguards, boaters, and other individuals involved in water activities
- Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of current water safety programs and make recommendations for improvements
- Investigate and report on any water-related incidents or accidents within the region
- Maintain accurate records and documentation of all water safety activities and incidents
- Represent the state in meetings and conferences related to water safety and serve as a spokesperson for the Palisades Region
- Stay current on industry trends and developments in water safety and make recommendations for updates to policies and procedures as needed.
Knowledge Of Water Safety Regulations: The Water Safety Coordinator Must Possess A Thorough Understanding Of State And Federal Regulations Related To Water Safety, Including Those Set By Agencies Such As The Department Of Environmental Conservation And The Occupational Safety And Health Administration.
Lifesaving Certification: This Position May Require A Current Certification In Lifesaving Techniques Such As Cpr, First Aid, And Lifeguard Training. The Ideal Candidate Should Have Experience In Implementing And Enforcing Water Safety Procedures To Ensure The Safety Of All Individuals Using State-Owned Water Facilities.
Risk Management Skills: The Water Safety Coordinator Should Have The Ability To Identify Potential Safety Hazards And Develop Strategies To Mitigate Risks. This Includes Conducting Regular Inspections Of Water Facilities And Creating Emergency Response Plans In The Event Of An Incident.
Strong Communication Skills: This Role Requires Effective Communication With A Variety Of Stakeholders, Including Park Visitors, Staff, And Government Officials. The Water Safety Coordinator Should Be Able To Clearly And Concisely Convey Safety Guidelines And Procedures To All Parties Involved.
Experience In Water Safety Education: The Ideal Candidate Should Have Experience In Developing And Delivering Educational Programs Related To Water Safety. This May Include Creating Training Materials, Conducting Workshops, And Organizing Community Outreach Events To Promote Safe Water Practices.
