- Review and adjudicate unemployment insurance claims, ensuring compliance with state and federal laws and regulations.
- Conduct impartial and thorough investigations into unemployment insurance claims, including interviewing claimants and employers, reviewing relevant documents, and making fair and informed decisions.
- Communicate effectively with claimants, employers, and other stakeholders to gather necessary information and explain decisions.
- Stay up-to-date on labor laws and regulations, including changes and updates, to ensure accurate and consistent decision-making.
- Maintain accurate and detailed records of all decisions and actions taken.
- Provide guidance and support to claimants and employers regarding the unemployment insurance process.
- Conduct hearings and mediations to resolve disputes between claimants and employers.
- Collaborate with other departments and agencies to ensure the efficient and effective operation of the unemployment insurance system.
- Participate in training and development opportunities to enhance knowledge and skills.
- Uphold the values and mission of the State of New York's Department of Labor, including a commitment to providing excellent customer service and promoting economic growth and prosperity.
Juris Doctor (Jd) Degree From An Accredited Law School.
Admission To The New York State Bar Association.
Minimum Of 5 Years Experience As An Attorney, Preferably With Experience In Employment Law Or Administrative Hearings.
Knowledge Of State And Federal Labor Laws And Regulations.
Excellent Written And Oral Communication Skills, As Well As Strong Analytical And Decision-Making Abilities.
