Job Description

Are you a skilled tradesperson with a passion for problem-solving and a knack for fixing things? The State of New York is seeking a Trades Specialist (Plumber/Steamfitter) to join our team and help maintain and improve our state facilities. As a Trades Specialist, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the safety and functionality of our buildings and equipment. We are looking for a dedicated and experienced individual who is committed to delivering high-quality work and has a strong understanding of plumbing and steamfitting.   1. Perform plumbing and steamfitting tasks in accordance with state regulations and safety guidelines.
  2. Troubleshoot and diagnose issues with plumbing and steamfitting systems.
  3. Repair and maintain plumbing and steamfitting equipment and fixtures.
  4. Install new plumbing and steamfitting systems as needed.
  5. Conduct routine inspections of state facilities to identify and address any plumbing or steamfitting issues.
  6. Collaborate with other tradespeople and contractors to complete larger projects.
  7. Maintain accurate records of work performed and materials used.
  8. Follow all established procedures for the safe handling and disposal of hazardous materials.
  9. Keep up-to-date with industry developments and best practices in plumbing and steamfitting.
  10. Provide excellent customer service to state employees and visitors by responding promptly and professionally to all service requests.
  11. Communicate effectively with supervisors, team members, and other departments.
  12. Adhere to strict deadlines and prioritize tasks to ensure timely completion of projects.
  13. Follow all state policies and procedures, including those related to workplace safety.
  14. Train and mentor junior tradespeople as needed.
  15. Embody a strong work ethic and consistently deliver high-quality work.
  16. Stay organized and maintain a clean and safe work environment.
  17. Continuously evaluate and make recommendations for improving plumbing and steamfitting processes and procedures.
  18. Represent the State of New York in a professional and positive manner at all times.
  19. Adhere to budget guidelines and seek cost-effective solutions for plumbing and steamfitting projects.
  20. Stay available for emergency repairs and provide on-call services as needed.

Job Qualifications
  • Relevant Certification: A Qualified Trades Specialist Should Have A Valid Certification As A Plumber Or Steamfitter From A Recognized Institution. This Ensures That They Have Received Proper Training And Possess The Necessary Skills To Perform The Job Effectively.
