Job Description

Welcome to the State of New York Department of Education! We are currently seeking a dedicated and passionate Teaching Assistant to join our team. As a Teaching Assistant, you will have the opportunity to work closely with students, teachers, and other educational professionals to support and enhance the learning experience.   1. Assist teachers in implementing lesson plans and activities to support student learning.
  2. Provide one-on-one and small group support to students who require extra help.
  3. Assist with classroom management and maintaining a positive learning environment.
  4. Collaborate with teachers and other educational professionals to develop and implement educational strategies and accommodations for students.
  5. Monitor and record student progress and behavior, and communicate updates to teachers and parents as needed.
  6. Provide feedback and support to students to help them achieve academic and personal growth.
  7. Attend staff meetings and professional development sessions to stay updated on best practices and strategies for supporting student learning.
  8. Maintain a safe and clean classroom environment and assist with classroom set-up and organization.
  9. Develop positive relationships with students, parents, and colleagues to foster a supportive and inclusive learning community.
  10. Adhere to all school policies and procedures, including confidentiality and safety protocols.
  11. Continuously seek opportunities for personal and professional growth to enhance teaching skills and knowledge.
  12. Support the school's mission and values and act as a positive role model for students.
  13. Perform other related duties as assigned by the school administration.

Job Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree In Education Or Related Field: A Minimum Of A Bachelor's Degree In Education Or A Related Field Is Typically Required For A Teaching Assistant Position In The State Of New York. This Ensures That The Candidate Has A Strong Foundation In Teaching Principles And Methodologies.

  • Relevant Teaching Experience: Candidates With Prior Experience In A Classroom Setting Are Preferred For A Teaching Assistant Role. This Could Include Student Teaching, Substitute Teaching, Or Working As A Tutor. Experience Demonstrates The Candidate's Understanding Of Classroom Dynamics And Their Ability To Work With Students.

These Skills Are Necessary For Building Rapport With Students, Collaborating With Teachers, And Effectively Communicating With Parents.

  • Proficiency In Technology And Computer Skills: In Today's Digital Age, Technology Is An Integral Part Of The Educational System. Teaching Assistants Are Expected To Have A Good Understanding Of Technology And Be Proficient In Computer Skills. Knowledge Of Educational Software And Online Learning Platforms Is Also Beneficial.
