As a Special Counsel, you will play a critical role in providing legal advice and support to various departments and agencies within the state government.   1. Provide legal advice and support to various departments and agencies within the state government.
  2. Conduct legal research and analysis to assist in decision making and policy development.
  3. Draft legal opinions, memos, and other documents to support the state's legal position.
  4. Represent the state in court proceedings and administrative hearings.
  5. Collaborate with other attorneys and government officials to develop and implement legal strategies.
  6. Stay up-to-date on relevant laws, regulations, and policies that may impact the state's operations.
  7. Advise on the legality and implications of proposed legislation and regulations.
  8. Review contracts, agreements, and other legal documents to ensure they comply with state and federal laws.
  9. Train and educate state employees on legal matters and best practices.
  10. Assist in resolving legal disputes and conflicts.
  11. Maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion.
  12. Communicate effectively with all levels of government and external stakeholders.
  13. Manage a caseload and prioritize tasks to meet deadlines.
  14. Act with integrity and uphold the ethical standards of the legal profession.
  15. Contribute to a positive and collaborative work environment.
  16. Continuously develop and improve legal knowledge and skills.

Job Qualifications
  • Juris Doctor (J.d.) Degree From An Accredited Law School.

  • Admission To The New York State Bar.

  • Minimum Of 5 Years Of Experience Practicing Law, Preferably In A Relevant Field Such As Criminal Law Or Government Investigations.

  • Strong Research And Writing Skills, As Well As The Ability To Analyze Complex Legal Issues.

  • Prior Experience Conducting Investigations Or Serving As A Prosecutor Is Preferred.
