  1. Provide legal counsel and representation to the state of New York on a variety of legal issues and cases.
  2. Conduct thorough research and analysis of laws, regulations, and legal precedents to inform decision making.
  3. Prepare and review legal documents, including briefs, contracts, and agreements.
  4. Represent the state in court proceedings, including trials, hearings, and appeals.
  5. Collaborate with a team of attorneys and professionals to develop legal strategies and solutions.
  6. Communicate effectively with clients, colleagues, and external stakeholders to provide updates, advice, and counsel.
  7. Maintain a strong work ethic and adhere to ethical and professional standards in all aspects of the job.
  8. Continuously stay updated on changes in laws and regulations that may impact the state of New York.
  9. Assist in the training and development of less experienced attorneys and legal staff.
  10. Participate in the recruitment and hiring process for new legal team members.
  11. Uphold the mission and values of NY HELPS and demonstrate a commitment to public service.
  12. Handle a high volume of work and meet tight deadlines while maintaining accuracy and attention to detail.
  13. Collaborate with other departments and agencies within the state to address legal issues and provide guidance on legal matters.
  14. Represent the state in negotiations with external parties, such as government agencies, businesses, and individuals.
  15. Maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion and professionalism.

Job Qualifications
  • Juris Doctor (Jd) Degree From An Accredited Law School And Admission To The New York State Bar.

  • A Minimum Of 5 Years Of Experience As A Practicing Attorney, Preferably In A Government Or Public Sector Setting.

  • Extensive Knowledge Of New York State Laws And Regulations, Particularly In The Area Of Public Health And Human Services.

  • Demonstrated Experience In Conducting Legal Research, Drafting Legal Documents, And Providing Legal Advice And Counsel To Clients.

  • Strong Communication And Interpersonal Skills, With The Ability To Work Collaboratively With A Diverse Team And Effectively Represent The State Of New York In Legal Proceedings.
