Job Description

Welcome to the State of New York Park and Recreation team! We are currently seeking enthusiastic and dedicated individuals to join our team as Park and Recreation Aides. As an Aide, you will play an integral role in helping to maintain and improve our state parks and recreational areas for the enjoyment of our visitors. We are looking for individuals who have a passion for the outdoors, a strong work ethic, and a desire to make a positive impact in their community.   1. Maintain cleanliness and organization of park facilities, including restrooms, picnic areas, and trails.
  2. Assist with daily operations such as collecting fees, selling permits, and providing information to visitors.
  3. Perform routine maintenance tasks, such as mowing, raking, and weeding, to keep park grounds in top condition.
  4. Monitor park activities and enforce rules and regulations to ensure the safety and enjoyment of all visitors.
  5. Assist with special events and programs, such as nature walks, educational programs, and community events.
  6. Provide excellent customer service to park visitors, answering questions, and making recommendations for activities and areas to explore.
  7. Keep accurate records of daily tasks, visitor counts, and any incidents or issues that arise.
  8. Communicate effectively and work collaboratively with other park staff and volunteers to complete tasks and projects.
  9. Continuously seek opportunities to improve park operations and visitor experiences.
  10. Adhere to all safety protocols and procedures to ensure a safe working environment for oneself and others.

Job Qualifications
  • High School Diploma Or Equivalent: A Minimum Of A High School Diploma Or Ged Is Typically Required For A Park And Recreation Aide Position In The State Of New York.

  • Cpr And First Aid Certification: Many Parks And Recreation Positions Require Candidates To Have Current Cpr And First Aid Certifications. This Ensures The Safety Of Park Visitors In Case Of Emergencies.

  • Experience Working In A Public Park Or Recreational Facility: Previous Experience Working In A Park Or Recreational Facility, Either Paid Or Volunteer, Is Often Preferred For A Park And Recreation Aide Position.

  • Knowledge Of Park And Recreation Maintenance And Operations: A Thorough Understanding Of Park And Recreation Maintenance And Operations Is Important For A Park And Recreation Aide To Be Successful In Their Role. This May Include Knowledge Of Equipment, Safety Procedures, And Scheduling.

  • Strong Communication And Customer Service Skills: Park And Recreation Aides Must Be Able To Effectively Communicate With Park Visitors And Coworkers. They Should Also Possess Excellent Customer Service Skills To Ensure A Positive Experience For Park Visitors.
