- Monitor and enforce safety regulations at state parks and beaches to ensure the well-being of all visitors.
- Possess and maintain strong swimming and first aid skills to respond quickly and effectively in emergency situations.
- Conduct regular safety checks of designated swimming areas and equipment to identify and address any potential hazards.
- Communicate effectively with park visitors, providing clear and concise instructions for safe swimming and beach activities.
- Administer first aid and CPR when necessary, following proper protocols and procedures.
- Remain vigilant and aware of potential risks and hazards, taking necessary precautions to prevent accidents and injuries.
- Collaborate with other lifeguards and park staff to maintain a cohesive team and ensure consistent safety practices.
- Keep accurate records and documentation of any incidents or emergencies that occur during shifts.
- Attend regular trainings and meetings to stay updated on safety protocols and procedures.
- Serve as a positive role model for visitors, promoting safe and responsible behavior while enjoying outdoor activities.
Current Certification In Lifeguarding, First Aid, And Cpr/Aed From A Recognized Organization Such As The American Red Cross Or Ymca.
Minimum Of 1 Year Of Lifeguarding Experience In A Pool, Lake, Or Ocean Setting.
Ability To Pass A Pre-Employment Physical And Swim Test, Including Demonstrating Proficiency In Water Rescues And Cpr Techniques.
Strong Communication And Customer Service Skills, With The Ability To Interact With Individuals Of All Ages And Backgrounds.
Familiarity With The State Of New York's Safety Protocols And Regulations Related To Lifeguarding And Pool/Beach Operations.
