We are currently seeking motivated individuals to join our team as Highway Maintenance Worker 1/Highway Maintenance Worker Trainee 1/Highway Maintenance Worker Trainee 2. As a member of our highway maintenance crew, you will play a vital role in ensuring the safety and functionality of New York's roads and highways.   1. Perform routine maintenance and repairs on highways, roadways, and related infrastructure.
  2. Operate and maintain various equipment including but not limited to trucks, plows, and other heavy machinery.
  3. Conduct inspections to identify and address any potential hazards or issues on roads and highways.
  4. Respond to emergency situations such as accidents, severe weather conditions, and other incidents that may impact road safety.
  5. Maintain accurate records of work performed, materials used, and equipment maintenance.
  6. Follow all safety protocols and procedures to ensure a safe work environment for yourself and your team.
  7. Communicate effectively with team members and supervisors to coordinate work and address any concerns or issues.
  8. Participate in training and development programs to continuously improve skills and knowledge.
  9. Adhere to department policies and procedures, as well as state and federal regulations.
  10. Represent the Department of Transportation in a professional manner and maintain positive relationships with the public and other stakeholders.
  11. Perform other duties as assigned by supervisors.

Job Qualifications

  • High School Diploma Or Equivalent: Candidates Must Possess A High School Diploma Or Ged To Be Considered For The Position.

  • Valid Driver's License: A Valid Driver's License Is Required For This Position, As The Job May Involve Driving State Vehicles To Job Sites.

  • Physical Fitness: This Position Requires Physical Strength And Stamina, As Workers May Be Required To Lift Heavy Equipment And Materials And Work In Various Weather Conditions.

  • Basic Knowledge Of Highway Maintenance: Prior Experience Or Education In Highway Maintenance, Construction, Or Related Fields Is Preferred. Candidates Should Have A Basic Understanding Of Road Maintenance Techniques And Equipment.

  • Teamwork And Communication Skills: The Ability To Work Effectively In A Team And Communicate Clearly With Coworkers And Supervisors Is Essential For This Position. Candidates Should Also Be Able To Follow Written And Verbal Instructions Accurately.
