- Accurately and efficiently maintain and organize all health information records for the facility.
- Ensure the confidentiality and security of all medical records in accordance with HIPAA regulations.
- Utilize electronic health record systems to input, update, and retrieve patient information.
- Review and verify the accuracy of all medical records, including patient demographics, clinical data, and diagnostic codes.
- Collaborate with healthcare providers and other team members to ensure accurate and complete documentation.
- Monitor and track missing or incomplete records and follow up with necessary parties to obtain missing information.
- Maintain a thorough understanding of medical terminology and coding systems, such as ICD-10 and CPT.
- Communicate effectively with patients, healthcare providers, and other staff members to obtain and clarify information.
- Identify and report any discrepancies or potential issues with health information records.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives and audits to ensure compliance with regulatory standards.
- Stay updated on industry changes and new developments in health information management.
- Assist with training and mentoring new team members as needed.
- Adhere to policies and procedures set forth by the organization and department.
- Serve as a resource for patients and providers regarding health information inquiries.
- Maintain a positive and professional demeanor at all times.
Associate's Degree In Health Information Management Or Related Field
Certification As A Registered Health Information Technician (Rhit)
At Least 1-2 Years Of Experience In A Healthcare Setting, Preferably In Health Information Management
Strong Knowledge Of Medical Terminology, Coding Systems, And Data Management
Familiarity With Electronic Health Records And Health Information Technology Systems
