
Forestry Technician 1

- Monitor and maintain the health of forests in designated areas according to established protocols and procedures.
- Conduct field surveys to gather data on forest conditions, including tree species, age, and health.
- Assist with the implementation of forestry projects, such as reforestation, timber harvesting, and invasive species management.
- Utilize technical skills and equipment to collect and analyze data, create maps and reports, and assist with forest management plans.
- Communicate effectively and collaborate with team members to ensure efficient and effective completion of tasks.
- Follow safety protocols and maintain a safe working environment while performing duties in the field.
- Stay up-to-date on current forestry practices, regulations, and policies to ensure compliance and best practices are being followed.
- Educate the public and stakeholders on the importance of forest management and conservation.
- Utilize computer software and other technology to organize and manage data, as well as assist with project planning and implementation.
- Participate in training and professional development opportunities to enhance skills and knowledge in forestry techniques and practices.
High School Diploma Or Equivalent: A Forestry Technician 1 At State Of New York Must Have A Minimum Of A High School Diploma Or Its Equivalent.
Associate's Degree In Forestry Or Related Field: Candidates With An Associate's Degree In Forestry Or A Related Field Will Be Given Preference For This Position.
Previous Experience In Forestry Or Related Field: A Minimum Of 1-2 Years Of Experience In Forestry Or A Related Field Is Required For This Position.
Knowledge Of Forestry And Land Management Practices: The Ideal Candidate Should Have A Strong Understanding Of Forestry And Land Management Practices, Including Tree Identification, Silviculture, And Forest Health.
Physical Ability And Outdoor Skills: This Position Requires Extensive Physical Activity And Outdoor Work, Including Hiking, Camping, And Operating Forestry Equipment. Candidates Must Be Physically Fit And Capable Of Performing Strenuous Tasks In Various Weather Conditions.
