The State of New York is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Fish and Wildlife Technician 2 to join our team and play a vital role in managing and conserving our state's diverse fish and wildlife populations. As a Fish and Wildlife Technician 2, you will work closely with biologists and other team members to conduct field surveys, collect and analyze data, and assist in the implementation of management plans.   1. Conduct field surveys and collect data on fish and wildlife populations.
  2. Analyze data and assist in the development and implementation of management plans.
  3. Work closely with biologists and other team members to ensure the effective management and conservation of state's fish and wildlife resources.
  4. Use specialized equipment and techniques to track and monitor fish and wildlife populations.
  5. Identify potential threats to fish and wildlife populations and report findings to superiors.
  6. Assist in the maintenance and operation of facilities and equipment used in fish and wildlife management.
  7. Follow safety protocols and procedures to ensure the well-being of oneself and others while working in the field.
  8. Stay up-to-date with the latest research and developments in the field of biology and environmental science.
  9. Educate and inform the public about the importance of conserving and protecting fish and wildlife populations.
  10. Collaborate with other agencies and organizations to promote and implement conservation efforts.
  11. Keep accurate records and prepare reports on field surveys and data analysis.
  12. Maintain a high level of professionalism and represent the state of New York in a positive manner.
  13. Conduct outreach and educational programs to engage the community in conservation efforts.
  14. Participate in training and professional development opportunities to enhance knowledge and skills.
  15. Perform other duties as assigned by superiors.

Job Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree In Wildlife Management, Biology, Or A Related Field.

  • Minimum Of 2 Years Experience In Wildlife Management, Including Fieldwork And Data Collection.

  • Knowledge And Understanding Of State And Federal Wildlife Regulations And Laws.

  • Experience In Conducting Wildlife Surveys, Including Data Analysis And Report Writing.

  • Ability To Operate And Maintain Equipment Used In Wildlife Management, Such As Radio Telemetry And Gps Devices.
