Job Description

The State of New York is seeking a highly motivated and skilled individual to join our team as a Disaster Preparedness Program Representative 2. In this role, you will play a critical role in planning, coordinating, and implementing disaster preparedness programs across the state. We are looking for someone who is dedicated, organized, and has excellent communication skills to ensure the safety and resilience of our communities.   1. Develop and implement disaster preparedness programs and initiatives in collaboration with state and local agencies and organizations.
  2. Conduct research and analysis on current disaster preparedness strategies and identify areas for improvement.
  3. Coordinate with emergency management personnel to ensure preparedness plans are aligned with state and federal guidelines.
  4. Train and educate community members, volunteers, and other stakeholders on disaster preparedness and response.
  5. Serve as a point of contact for community members seeking information and resources related to disaster preparedness.
  6. Plan and execute drills and exercises to test the effectiveness of disaster preparedness plans.
  7. Collaborate with local government officials and community leaders to identify and address potential vulnerabilities and risks.
  8. Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of disaster preparedness programs and make recommendations for improvement.
  9. Develop and maintain relationships with relevant state and federal agencies to stay updated on best practices and resources for disaster preparedness.
  10. Provide support and guidance to communities during and after disasters to ensure efficient and effective response efforts.
  11. Prepare and present reports, presentations, and other materials to various stakeholders to communicate the status and progress of disaster preparedness programs.
  12. Stay up-to-date on the latest developments and trends in emergency management and disaster preparedness.
  13. Adhere to all state and federal laws, regulations, and policies related to disaster preparedness and emergency management.

Job Qualifications
  • Knowledge Of Federal And State Emergency Management Laws, Regulations, And Procedures.

  • Bachelor's Degree In Emergency Management, Public Administration, Or A Related Field.

  • Minimum Of 3 Years Of Experience In Disaster Preparedness, Response, And Recovery Programs.

  • Excellent Communication And Interpersonal Skills, With The Ability To Work With A Diverse Range Of Stakeholders.

  • Strong Analytical And Problem-Solving Skills, With The Ability To Develop And Implement Effective Disaster Preparedness Plans And Procedures.
