- Maintain accurate records of all capital assets owned by the State of New York.
- Conduct regular audits and physical inventory checks to ensure the accuracy of asset records.
- Provide support and guidance to other departments and agencies in regards to capital asset accounting procedures.
- Monitor and track capital asset acquisitions, disposals, and transfers.
- Prepare and analyze financial reports related to capital assets, including depreciation, impairment, and disposal.
- Ensure compliance with all state and federal regulations relating to capital asset accounting.
- Collaborate with other departments to develop and implement asset management policies and procedures.
- Identify and resolve any discrepancies or issues with capital asset records.
- Maintain a thorough understanding of the state's capital asset management system and make recommendations for improvements.

Bachelor's Degree In Accounting Or Finance: A Strong Foundation In Accounting Principles, Financial Analysis, And Budgeting Is Necessary For A Capital Asset Accounting Specialist Role.
Knowledge Of Governmental Accounting Standards (Gasb): Familiarity With Gasb Principles And Regulations Is Essential For Accurately Recording And Reporting Capital Assets In Accordance With Government Standards.
Previous Experience In Capital Asset Accounting: Candidates Should Have At Least 3-5 Years Of Experience In Capital Asset Accounting, Preferably In A Government Or Public Sector Setting.
Attention To Detail And Strong Analytical Skills: The Role Of A Capital Asset Accounting Specialist Requires A High Level Of Accuracy In Recording And Analyzing Complex Financial Data. Attention To Detail And Strong Analytical Skills Are Crucial For Success In This Position.
