
Addictions Counselor Assistant - HOURLY

- Assist licensed counselors in providing effective treatment and support to individuals struggling with addiction.
- Collaborate with other members of the treatment team to develop personalized treatment plans for clients.
- Maintain confidentiality and adhere to ethical guidelines when working with clients.
- Provide emotional support and encouragement to clients throughout their treatment journey.
- Conduct intake interviews and assessments to gather information about clients' needs and backgrounds.
- Facilitate individual and group counseling sessions under the supervision of licensed counselors.
- Monitor and document client progress and report any concerns to the treatment team.
- Educate clients on coping strategies and relapse prevention techniques.
- Assist with crisis intervention and de-escalation when necessary.
- Stay updated on current research and best practices in addiction treatment.
- Participate in regular team meetings and case conferences to discuss client progress and treatment plans.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date client records and documentation.
- Provide referrals to other resources and support services as needed.
- Demonstrate sensitivity, compassion, and a non-judgmental attitude towards clients.
- Comply with all state and federal regulations regarding addiction treatment and counseling.
Minimum Education: A High School Diploma Or Equivalent Is Required For This Position. Some Employers May Prefer Candidates With A Bachelor's Degree In Psychology, Social Work, Or A Related Field.
Relevant Experience: Previous Experience Working In The Field Of Addiction Or Mental Health Is Highly Desirable. This Can Include Internships, Volunteer Work, Or Paid Positions.
Knowledge Of Addiction Treatment: Candidates Should Have A Strong Understanding Of Addiction And The Different Treatment Methods Used To Address It. This Can Include Knowledge Of 12-Step Programs, Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy, And Other Evidence-Based Practices.
Strong Communication Skills: As An Addictions Counselor Assistant, You Will Be Working Closely With Individuals Struggling With Addiction, As Well As Their Families. Strong Communication Skills, Both Verbal And Written, Are Essential For Building Trust And Understanding With Clients.
Certifications And Licensure: Depending On The Specific Requirements Of The Job, The State Of New York May Require Candidates To Have Specific Certifications Or Licensure. This Can Include Certified Alcohol And Substance Abuse Counselor (Casac) Certification Or A License As A Mental Health Counselor.
