Job Description

In this role, you will play a crucial role in evaluating and determining eligibility for disability benefits for our state's residents. We are seeking candidates with a background in social work, psychology, or a related field, who are dedicated to providing fair and accurate assessments.   1. Conduct thorough and objective evaluations of disability claims in accordance with state and federal regulations.
  2. Review medical records, vocational assessments, and other relevant information to make informed decisions about eligibility for disability benefits.
  3. Communicate with claimants, medical professionals, and other stakeholders to gather necessary information and clarify any discrepancies.
  4. Utilize strong attention to detail to ensure accurate and consistent determinations.
  5. Maintain up-to-date knowledge of state and federal laws and regulations related to disability benefits.
  6. Collaborate with team members and supervisors to discuss complex cases and seek guidance when needed.
  7. Uphold ethical standards and ensure confidentiality of sensitive information.
  8. Provide excellent customer service to claimants and their families, answering questions and addressing concerns in a professional and empathetic manner.
  9. Keep detailed and accurate records of all evaluations and decisions made.
  10. Participate in ongoing training and professional development opportunities to continuously improve skills and knowledge related to disability determinations.
  11. Act as an advocate for individuals with disabilities, promoting fair and equitable treatment in the determination process.
  12. Contribute to the improvement and implementation of policies and procedures related to disability determinations.
  13. Represent the state in legal proceedings related to disability determinations, if necessary.
  14. Prioritize workload and meet established deadlines to ensure timely processing of disability claims.
  15. Support the overall mission and values of the state agency and contribute to a positive and collaborative work environment.

Job Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree In A Relevant Field Such As Social Work, Psychology, Or Disability Studies.

  • Knowledge And Understanding Of Federal And State Disability Laws, Regulations, And Procedures.

  • Minimum Of 2 Years Of Experience In Disability Determination Or Related Field.

  • Strong Analytical And Decision-Making Skills With The Ability To Evaluate Complex Medical And Vocational Evidence.

  • Excellent Communication And Interpersonal Skills To Effectively Interact With Individuals With Disabilities, Medical Professionals, And Attorneys.
