Job Description

  1. Conduct regular inspections of veterinary facilities to ensure compliance with consumer safety laws and regulations.
  2. Investigate complaints and reports of animal mistreatment or neglect in accordance with state laws and procedures.
  3. Collaborate with other government agencies, such as the Department of Agriculture, to address consumer safety concerns related to animals.
  4. Develop and implement educational programs to promote responsible pet ownership and consumer safety.
  5. Provide guidance and support to veterinary professionals on best practices for ensuring consumer safety.
  6. Maintain accurate records and documentation of inspections, investigations, and enforcement actions.
  7. Stay up-to-date on current laws, regulations, and industry standards related to animal welfare and consumer safety.
  8. Communicate effectively with the public, including pet owners and animal advocacy groups, to address concerns and promote awareness of consumer safety issues.
  9. Participate in training and professional development opportunities to enhance knowledge and skills related to veterinary consumer safety.
  10. Contribute to the development and implementation of policies and procedures for ensuring consumer safety in the veterinary industry.
  11. Serve as a liaison between the state government and local veterinary organizations to promote collaboration and compliance with consumer safety laws.
  12. Respond to emergencies and urgent situations involving animal safety and consumer protection.
  13. Represent the state of Illinois at conferences, seminars, and other events related to veterinary consumer safety.
  14. Uphold ethical standards and maintain confidentiality in all aspects of the job.
  15. Support and promote the overall mission and values of the state of Illinois in regards to animal welfare and consumer safety.

Job Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree In Veterinary Science, Animal Science, Or A Related Field.

  • At Least 3 Years Of Experience In A Veterinary Or Animal Health Related Field.

  • Knowledge Of Federal And State Laws And Regulations Related To Animal Health And Safety.

  • Strong Understanding Of Veterinary Medical Practices And Procedures.

  • Excellent Communication And Interpersonal Skills, With The Ability To Work With A Diverse Range Of Stakeholders.
