Job Description

If so, the State of Illinois is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Permanency Specialist to join our team.As a Permanency Specialist, you will play a crucial role in ensuring that children in the foster care system have safe and loving homes. You will work closely with families, social workers, and other stakeholders to create and implement permanency plans for children in care. Your expertise and compassion will help give these children the stability they need to thrive.To be successful in this role, you must have a Bachelor's degree in social work or a related field and at least two years of experience in child welfare. You should also have a strong understanding of state and federal policies related to permanency planning and be able to effectively navigate complex systems.   1. Develop and implement permanency plans for children in foster care, in collaboration with families, social workers, and other stakeholders.
  2. Conduct thorough assessments of children's needs and strengths to inform permanency planning.
  3. Stay up-to-date on child welfare policies and procedures at the state and federal levels.
  4. Advocate for the best interests of children and collaborate with other professionals to ensure their safety and well-being.
  5. Build and maintain relationships with foster families, adoptive families, and biological families to support the permanency process.
  6. Use evidence-based practices to guide decision-making and problem-solving in complex situations.
  7. Attend court hearings and provide testimony as needed.
  8. Maintain accurate and timely documentation of all case activities.
  9. Collaborate with community resources to provide support and services to children and families.
  10. Participate in ongoing training and professional development to enhance knowledge and skills related to child welfare and permanency planning.
  11. Communicate effectively with all parties involved in the permanency process, including children, families, and colleagues.
  12. Adhere to all ethical and legal standards in working with children and families.
  13. Contribute to a positive and inclusive work environment by promoting teamwork, respect, and cultural competence.
  14. Assist in recruitment, training, and support of foster and adoptive families.
  15. Act as a liaison between child welfare agencies and other community organizations to promote collaboration and improve outcomes for children and families.

Job Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree In Social Work, Psychology, Or Related Field

  • Minimum Of 2 Years Experience In Child Welfare Or Adoption Services

  • Experience In Developing And Implementing Permanency Plans For Children In Foster Care
