- Conduct pre-trip inspections of equipment to ensure proper functioning and report any issues or malfunctions.
- Maintain accurate records of daily activities, including snow removal routes, equipment usage, and materials expended.

- Represent IDOT in a professional and courteous manner while interacting with the public.

Valid Commercial Driver's License (Cdl) With Class B Endorsement: The Job Of A Highway Maintainer - Snow Removal Operator Requires Operating Heavy Machinery And Vehicles, Therefore A Valid Cdl With A Class B Endorsement Is Necessary.
Experience In Snow And Ice Removal: As The Job Title Suggests, The Primary Responsibility Of A Highway Maintainer - Snow Removal Operator Is To Clear Snow And Ice From Highways And Roads. Therefore, Previous Experience In Snow And Ice Removal Is Essential.
Knowledge Of Road Maintenance And Repair Techniques: Along With Snow And Ice Removal, The Job Also Involves Other Maintenance And Repair Tasks Such As Filling Potholes And Repairing Guardrails. Applicants Should Have Knowledge And Experience In These Areas.
Ability To Work In Adverse Weather Conditions: Snow And Ice Removal Often Takes Place In Harsh Weather Conditions, Including Extreme Cold And Heavy Snowfall. The Ideal Candidate Should Be Physically Fit And Able To Work In These Conditions For Extended Periods.
