Job Description

Welcome to the Helping Paws Program, where we believe in the power of dogs to inspire and transform lives. We are currently seeking a dedicated and compassionate Program Instructor to join our team at the State of Illinois. As an instructor, you will have the unique opportunity to work with both dogs and individuals in need, making a positive impact in our community. Our ideal candidate is someone who is experienced in dog training and has a passion for helping others. If you have a kind heart, strong communication skills, and a desire to make a difference, we would love for you to join our team.

  1. Conduct training sessions with dogs and individuals enrolled in the Helping Paws Program.
  2. Create and implement lesson plans for dog training and socialization.
  3. Assess the needs and abilities of both dogs and individuals in the program.
  4. Provide guidance and support to individuals in the program, including those with physical or emotional challenges.
  5. Monitor the progress of individuals and dogs in the program, making necessary adjustments to training plans.
  6. Communicate effectively with program participants, their families, and other team members.
  7. Maintain accurate records of training sessions and progress.
  8. Ensure the health and well-being of all program dogs, following proper care and handling procedures.
  9. Collaborate with other team members to continuously improve and develop the program.
  10. Participate in community outreach and education events to promote the program and its mission.
  11. Comply with all safety and program guidelines and protocols.
  12. Maintain a positive and supportive environment for program participants and dogs.
  13. Serve as a positive role model for program participants and promote positive interactions between individuals and dogs.
  14. Attend and actively participate in team meetings and trainings.
  15. Represent the Helping Paws Program in a professional and compassionate manner at all times.

Job Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree In A Relevant Field Such As Animal Science, Veterinary Medicine, Or Behavioral Psychology.

  • Previous Experience Working With Animals, Preferably In A Training Or Behavioral Capacity.

  • Knowledge Of Positive Reinforcement Training Techniques And Ability To Apply Them To A Variety Of Animal Species.

  • Excellent Communication And Interpersonal Skills, With The Ability To Work With A Diverse Group Of Individuals And Animals.

  • Strong Organizational Skills And Ability To Plan And Implement Effective Training Programs For Both Animals And Humans.
