1. Provide a safe and secure environment for incarcerated individuals, staff, and visitors.
2. Monitor and supervise inmates' activities, ensuring compliance with rules and regulations.
3. Conduct regular inspections of facilities and inmate living areas to identify and address any potential safety hazards.
4. Respond to emergency situations, such as fights or medical emergencies, in a timely and appropriate manner.
5. Maintain accurate and thorough records of inmate behavior, incidents, and activities.
6. Escort inmates to and from various locations within the facility, including court appearances, medical appointments, and other off-site activities.
7. Assist with the intake and release process of inmates, including searching and processing personal belongings.
8. Communicate effectively with inmates, staff, and members of the public, using appropriate de-escalation techniques when necessary.
9. Participate in ongoing training and development programs to enhance job knowledge and skills.
10. Collaborate with other staff members and agencies to develop and implement rehabilitation and reintegration programs for inmates.
11. Adhere to all departmental policies and procedures, as well as state and federal laws.
12. Maintain confidentiality of sensitive information and follow all security protocols.
13. Demonstrate physical and mental fitness to handle the demands of the job, including the ability to restrain and physically control inmates if necessary.
14. Uphold the values and mission of the Illinois Department of Corrections and DOC Lawrence CC.
15. Act as a positive role model for inmates, promoting pro-social behavior and attitudes.
16. Perform other duties as assigned by superiors.
