  1. Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records for the Department of Corrections (DOC) of the State of Illinois.
  2. Ensure compliance with state and federal regulations related to fiscal accounting.
  3. Perform regular audits and reviews of financial records to identify potential errors or discrepancies.
  4. Collaborate with other team members to develop and implement effective financial procedures and controls.
  5. Monitor and reconcile financial transactions to ensure accuracy and completeness.
  6. Prepare financial reports and statements for internal and external stakeholders.
  7. Serve as a subject matter expert on fiscal accounting and compliance matters.
  8. Communicate with other departments and agencies to resolve any financial discrepancies or issues.
  9. Assist in budget planning and forecasting.
  10. Train and mentor junior accounting staff.
  11. Stay up-to-date on changes in accounting laws and regulations.
  12. Identify opportunities for process improvements and make recommendations for implementation.
  13. Support the overall mission of the DOC by promoting public safety and supporting offender rehabilitation efforts.
  14. Maintain confidentiality and ensure the security of financial records.
  15. Handle any other related tasks and responsibilities as assigned by superiors.

Job Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree In Accounting Or Finance: A Qualified Candidate For The Doc Fiscal Accounting Compliance Accountant Advanced Job Should Possess A Bachelor's Degree In Accounting Or Finance From An Accredited Institution.

  • Cpa Certification: Having A Certified Public Accountant (Cpa) Certification Is Highly Preferred For This Position. It Demonstrates A Strong Understanding Of Accounting Principles And Regulations.

  • Minimum Of 5 Years Of Experience In Accounting: The Ideal Candidate Should Have A Minimum Of 5 Years Of Experience In A Similar Role, Preferably In A Government Agency Or A Large Organization.

  • Knowledge Of Governmental Accounting Standards: The Candidate Should Have A Thorough Understanding Of Governmental Accounting Standards (Gas) And Their Application In Financial Reporting For State Agencies.

  • Strong Analytical And Communication Skills: The Job Requires A Candidate Who Can Analyze Complex Financial Data And Communicate The Findings Effectively To Stakeholders. Excellent Written And Verbal Communication Skills Are Essential For This Role.
