- Provide legal advice and guidance to the state government on various legal matters, including compliance with state and federal laws.
- Conduct legal research and analysis to inform decision making and ensure legal compliance.
- Draft and review legal documents, including contracts, policies, and legislation, to ensure accuracy and compliance with applicable laws.
- Represent the state government in legal proceedings and negotiations, including court appearances and settlement negotiations.
- Collaborate with other attorneys and government officials to develop and implement legal strategies and solutions.
- Stay informed about current legal developments and changes in laws and regulations in order to provide up-to-date guidance and advice.
- Maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion.
- Manage a team of attorneys and legal staff, providing guidance and support as needed.
- Develop and maintain relationships with government agencies, community organizations, and other stakeholders.
- Demonstrate a commitment to public service and uphold the values of the Office of the Attorney General.
- Participate in training and professional development opportunities to continuously improve legal knowledge and skills.
- Handle a high volume of complex legal matters efficiently and effectively.
- Communicate clearly and effectively with colleagues, clients, and stakeholders, both orally and in writing.
- Uphold ethical standards and maintain a high level of professionalism in all interactions.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the General Counsel or supervising attorney.
Juris Doctor (Jd) Degree From An Accredited Law School.
Active Membership In Good Standing With The Illinois State Bar Association.
Minimum Of 7 Years Of Experience Practicing Law, Preferably In The Public Sector Or Government Agency.
Demonstrated Expertise In Illinois State Laws And Regulations, Particularly In Areas Relevant To The State Of Illinois And Its Operations.
Proven Leadership And Management Skills, With The Ability To Oversee A Team Of Attorneys And Handle Complex Legal Matters.
