  1. Oversee and manage the administrative law judges in the state of Illinois, ensuring fair and efficient adjudication of cases.
  2. Serve as the second-in-command to the Chief Administrative Law Judge, providing support and guidance as needed.
  3. Utilize strong legal expertise and knowledge to assist in the resolution of complex legal cases and issues.
  4. Develop and implement policies, procedures, and guidelines for the administrative law judges in accordance with state and federal laws.
  5. Mentor and train administrative law judges, providing guidance on legal procedures, best practices, and professional development.
  6. Collaborate with other legal professionals and government agencies to ensure the effective and efficient resolution of legal cases.
  7. Communicate effectively with stakeholders, including attorneys, government officials, and the general public, to provide updates and address concerns.
  8. Monitor and evaluate the performance of administrative law judges, providing feedback and taking corrective action as needed.
  9. Maintain a thorough understanding of state and federal laws and regulations to ensure compliance.
  10. Represent the Chief Administrative Law Judge in their absence and act as a liaison between the administrative law judges and other departments within the state government.
  11. Demonstrate a strong commitment to public service and uphold ethical standards in all aspects of the job.
  12. Stay current on emerging legal trends and developments, and make recommendations for improvements to processes and procedures.
  13. Handle any other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Chief Administrative Law Judge or other senior officials.

Job Qualifications
  • Juris Doctor (J.d.) Degree From An Accredited Law School.

  • Minimum Of 5 Years Experience As An Administrative Law Judge Or Similar Role.

  • Extensive Knowledge Of State And Federal Laws, Regulations, And Legal Procedures.

  • Strong Leadership Skills, With The Ability To Manage And Mentor A Team Of Administrative Law Judges.

  • Excellent Written And Verbal Communication Skills, With The Ability To Draft Clear And Concise Legal Opinions And Communicate Effectively With A Variety Of Stakeholders.
