Job Description

Welcome to the State of Illinois! We are currently seeking a dedicated and passionate individual to join our team as a Conservation/Historic Preservation Worker. This role is ideal for someone who has a deep appreciation for our state's natural and historic treasures and is committed to preserving them for future generations.   1. Assist with the maintenance and upkeep of state parks, historic sites, and other conservation areas.
  2. Conduct regular inspections of facilities and grounds to ensure they are well-maintained and safe for visitors.
  3. Participate in conservation and preservation projects, such as trail restoration, habitat restoration, and historic building preservation.
  4. Provide excellent customer service to visitors by answering questions, providing information, and promoting conservation efforts.
  5. Perform routine tasks such as cleaning, landscaping, and equipment maintenance to keep facilities in top condition.
  6. Assist with special events and educational programs related to conservation and historic preservation.
  7. Follow all safety protocols and procedures to ensure a safe working environment for yourself and others.
  8. Keep accurate records of work performed, inventory, and any issues or concerns that arise.
  9. Collaborate with team members and supervisors to identify areas for improvement and implement new processes or procedures.
  10. Stay up-to-date on conservation and preservation best practices and regulations to ensure compliance.
  11. Act as a positive and enthusiastic ambassador for the State of Illinois and its conservation and preservation efforts.
  12. Maintain a professional and respectful attitude towards colleagues, visitors, and the environment.
  13. Uphold the core values of the State of Illinois, including integrity, accountability, and teamwork.
  14. Continuously seek out opportunities to learn and grow in the field of conservation and historic preservation.
  15. Adhere to all state and federal laws and regulations related to conservation and historic preservation work.

Job Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree In Historic Preservation, Conservation, Or A Related Field.

  • At Least 2 Years Of Experience Working In The Field Of Historic Preservation Or Conservation.

  • Knowledge Of Federal And State Regulations Related To Historic Preservation And Conservation.

  • Strong Research And Analytical Skills, With Experience Conducting Historical Research And Documenting Findings.

  • Excellent Communication And Interpersonal Skills, With The Ability To Collaborate With Other Professionals And Stakeholders In The Field Of Historic Preservation.
