As a Conservation/Historic Preservation Worker, you will have the opportunity to use your skills and knowledge to help maintain and restore our state's natural and historic sites.   1. Maintain and preserve the natural and historic sites of the State of Illinois.
  2. Work collaboratively with other team members to identify areas in need of conservation and restoration.
  3. Conduct research and gather information on conservation and historic preservation methods.
  4. Implement sustainable practices to protect the environment and reduce the impact of human activity.
  5. Perform physical labor and use specialized equipment to maintain and restore natural and historic sites.
  6. Monitor and report on the condition of sites, identifying any potential hazards or issues.
  7. Educate the public on the importance of conservation and historic preservation.
  8. Collaborate with community organizations and stakeholders to promote conservation and historic preservation efforts.
  9. Assist in the development and implementation of conservation and preservation plans.
  10. Attend trainings and workshops to stay up-to-date on current conservation and preservation practices.
  11. Maintain accurate records and reports on conservation and preservation activities.
  12. Adhere to all safety guidelines and protocols while working on site.
  13. Represent the State of Illinois with professionalism and a commitment to preserving our natural and cultural heritage.

Job Qualifications
  • Knowledge Of Federal And State Historic Preservation Laws And Regulations.

  • Bachelor's Degree In Historic Preservation, Conservation, Or Related Field.

  • At Least 2 Years Of Experience In Preservation Or Conservation Work.

  • Experience Conducting Historic Research And Writing Reports.

  • Ability To Work Independently And In A Team Setting, With Strong Communication And Organizational Skills.
