- Conduct research and surveys to identify and document historically and culturally significant sites and resources within the state of Illinois.
- Develop and implement conservation and preservation plans for identified sites, including proper maintenance and restoration techniques.
- Collaborate with state and local agencies, as well as community organizations, to promote and advocate for the protection of natural and cultural resources.
- Monitor and assess the condition of protected sites and resources, identifying potential threats and taking necessary measures to mitigate them.
- Educate the public on the importance of conservation and historic preservation through outreach programs, presentations, and events.
- Maintain accurate records and documentation of all conservation and preservation activities.
- Assist with grant writing and fundraising efforts to support conservation and preservation projects.
- Stay current on industry developments and advancements in conservation and preservation techniques.
- Collaborate with other team members to develop and implement long-term conservation and preservation strategies for the state.
- Adhere to all safety protocols and regulations while working on preservation and conservation projects.
- Train and supervise volunteers and interns involved in conservation and preservation projects.
- Represent the state of Illinois at conferences and meetings related to conservation and historic preservation.
- Continuously evaluate and improve conservation and preservation practices to ensure the most effective and efficient use of resources.
- Travel to various locations within the state to conduct fieldwork and oversee conservation and preservation projects.
- Act as a liaison between the state and local communities to address any concerns or issues related to conservation and historic preservation.
Bachelor's Degree In Historic Preservation, Conservation, Architecture, Or A Related Field.
At Least 2 Years Of Experience Working In The Field Of Conservation Or Historic Preservation.
Knowledge Of Federal, State, And Local Laws And Regulations Related To Preservation And Conservation.
Demonstrated Experience In Project Management And The Ability To Handle Multiple Projects Simultaneously.
Strong Communication And Interpersonal Skills, With The Ability To Work Collaboratively With A Diverse Team And Interact With Government Officials And Community Stakeholders.
